A New Chapter: Metolius Golf Joins Noteefy

My final draft of the Metolius Manifesto is dated April 27, 2020, just before we announced our little enterprise. In it, I wrote:

Our intention is to help golf courses, private clubs, and small businesses implement modern, cloud-based technologies to make data-driven decisions, operate efficiently, and drive new revenue.

Our motive for doing this is a belief in small business. We believe that small businesses are the foundation of the economy. We believe in the power of the golf industry to be a positive influence on America’s well-being. We want to live in a world where golf courses, private clubs, and small businesses compete on a level playing field with their big-business competitors.

It is surreal to think that at the time, Metolius had zero revenue, one employee, and some big ambitions.

Over six years later, I’m proud to say the team at Metolius has delivered on this mission every day since. Along the way, we’ve grown to 12 team members, and more than 500 courses use our tools.

But a lot has changed in golf, too. With a pandemic in the rearview and a golf boom that won’t slow, we’re staring headlong at the biggest technological revolution in generations. Possibly ever. And I’m excited about it!

So today, we take it up a notch. AI is here, and we are here to help you implement it. Here’s how:

We split Metolius into two companies.

  • Metolius Golf — Our one-of-a-kind golf industry analytics, reporting, business intelligence, and AI platform.
  • Metolius Labs — Our SMB technology innovation team and direct business-to-business marketing & technology consulting and support services.

As of this morning, Metolius Golf has been acquired by Noteefy.

We’ve admired Noteefy from across the trade show floor for years. Over that time, it became clear that many operators used Metolius Golf and Noteefy as complementary tools in their technology stack. Moreover, we are all on the same mission: to help green grass operators drive revenue and efficiency through technology. Our rationale is simple: we can make a much bigger impact together.

I will join the Noteefy team in a day-to-day role as Vice President of Data. I will be joined by the Metolius onboarding and support team. Over the next few months, we’ll work to integrate Metolius’s intelligence layer into Noteefy’s demand layer. We are thrilled to get to work!

Eric Flynn, Katie Brandow, and Alec Mandla will remain and serve as the day-to-day leadership team of Metolius Labs; I’ll remain as Managing Partner. Metolius Labs will continue the legacy of innovative consulting, services, and support for which Metolius has become known. The Metolius Labs team will complement the team at Metolius Golf by implementing platform customizations and providing bespoke consulting, marketing, automation, and AI adoption services.

AI is changing business as we know it, and I’ve never been more passionate about our mission to help operators adopt innovative technology. I can’t wait to get to work with Jake and the Noteefy team to continue the journey.
